A character wearing the spectacles can sense the presence of disease within 30 feet. You also identify the kind of disease it is by making an Intelligence check equal to the save DC of the disease.
The spectacles can penetrate most barriers, but it is blocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt.
