Iron is a common material for tools and other finished products. It is generally inferior to steel as it is not as ridgid, weighs more, and does not hold an edge as well. Weapons and armor can be made of plain iron and often are, in an effort to cut costs. Iron items are quick to rust and generally do not survive more than a few decades.
Iron is heavier and less suitable for weapons than steel, although they are generally stronger than bronze. Iron weapons lose the finesse property.
iron thrown weapons and ammunition suffer a -10 foot penalty to their range.
Like iron weapons, iron armor is heavier and less suitable than steel, although they are generally stronger than bronze. All characters wearing iron armor incur disadvantage on Dexterity (stealth) checks.
