Short-tooth orcs were more civilized than many other types of orcs or goblin-kin. Their intellect and organization skills are similar to those of hobgoblins.

Short-tooth orcs are the most common parents of half-orcs as they more often view other races as equal to themselves. Unlike their cousins, the black orcs, who view all other sentient races as food, short-tooth orcs do not engage in cannibalism and view the eating of other sentient creatures to be a sign of desperation.

Short-tooth orcs live in a loose confederation of tribes in deep forests and hills, usually held together by a chieftain and council of shamen schooled in magical arts. Short-tooth orc religious practices are somewhat similar to copper elves, leading some to believe that they may have had a strong influence on each other. It is not unheard of for a tribe of short-tooth orcs to take control of a Chorus Tree from copper elf druids.

Short-tooth orcs were welcomed into Findle by the steward Arundel Shay in the fourth age. Since then, they have been heavily integrated in Findle's nautical endeavors.
