were human-based planetouched, native outsiders that were infused with just a touch of fiendish blood, most often through descent from fiends—demons, devils, evil deities, and others who had bred with humans. Tiefling appearence varied wildly based on the particular fiend from which they are decended.Tieflings were known for their cunning and personal allure, which made them excellent deceivers as well as inspiring leaders when prejudices were laid aside.

Although their evil ancestors could be many generations removed, the taint lingered. Unlike half-fiends, tieflings were not predisposed to evil alignments and varied in alignment nearly as widely as full humans, though tieflings were certainly devious. The celestial counterparts of tieflings were called aasimar. The largest known population of teiflings on Ord hail from the Duchy of Redguard and the many deals with diabolical forces that take place in that region.

Most ancient blood pacts were made with greater fiends such as Pit Fiends, although there are some tieflings, such as the members of the Infinite Suns that can trace their lineage back to the rakshasa lords. These tieflings have a feline-like appearence.
